After learning the timing for the guards it was an extremely immersive experience having to constantly be engaged within the systems to be victorious, especially against special enemies and bosses. It took awhile for the combat to sink in, with my parry timings being off by a few frames. The game’s first impressions were visually stunning with an simplistic abstract art style and colors. Skill points and other upgrades can be found while exploring such as health upgrades. In combat the goal is to fill the opponents absorption meter to absorb the enemy and gain skill points to unlock new abilities or improve current ones. If the opponents health falls to zero the enemy goes into a hibernated state where they can be refought, if the opponents absorption gauge is at a certain percentage then the player can end the battle with an absorption quick-time event and gain a skill point. The enemy can protect their absorption meter by blocking with magical or physical barriers that can be broken with the appropriate skill type. Physical damage primarily does health damage while magic damage primarily fills the absorption meter. During offense the player has access to physical attacks and magic attacks. Perfect guard gives more offensive time to the player and prevents guard degradation. When defending the player has a physical guard and a magic guard that will degrade with enemy attacks unless a perfect guard is performed. When the player is attacking the enemy is defending, while the player is defending the enemy is attacking. Combat turns are split between defense and offense. In the platforming exploration the player’s goal is to obtain key items and abilities to progress through the world. Platforming is simple starting with single jumps and expanding with new abilities such as a dash. The game play is split between platforming exploration and turn based combat. The player plays the role of a nameless blue being whose goal is to fight and defeat their counterpart while exploring the universe on why this universe was created. Wordless is an expanding world game that takes place in a newly created universe where blue beings and their counterparts orange fight in a never ending cycle of fight, defeat, repeat.
